Scarface (R) 1983 Crime/Drama

1 Sentance Plot: Cuban Tony Montana moves up the ranks of the Miami drug trade .

My Thoughts: This film just rules in so many ways, and even though Tony is a some what unsavory character, you can't help but love the guy. It is a great rags to riches story, and even though Tony aquired success by means of drugs, it doesn't glorify them, because you see the effects it has on his relationships, like with his beloved sister Gina, as well as his best friend, and partner Manny. I think seeing how he changes as the story progresses is a most intriuging part of the movie, but there is much more to it, and to get it all, you should see for yourself.

Recommend to: Everyone, SEE IT NOW!!!

The Godfather (R) 1972 Crime/Drama

1 Sentance Plot: The Epic Story of the Corleone mafia family.

My Thoughts: Considered by many to be the best film ever made, this movie certainly lives up to the hype, delivering a masterpiece. At 4 hrs. running time, The Godfather is plenty long, enough to let you get to know all the characters very well, and is written so well, that you won't get bored. The length factor is a turn off to a lot of people, but if you give it a chance, you will see that as time passes, you only get more into the story.

Recommend to: Everyone, it's almost impossible to hate this film!

The Godfather Part 2 (R) 1974 Crime/Drama

1 Sentance Plot: The saga of the Corleone family continues.

My Thoughts: I find this much more enjoyable than the first, but Godfather Part 1 was the whole set up to this superior sequel, so it gets most of the glory. With Al Pacino taking the starring role you can't lose, because as in any of his roles (Scarface for one), he makes you care about his character, and the movie has multiple plots, with deep, meaningful characters.

Recommend to: Everyone, just like the 1st one!

No Holds Barred (PG) 1989 Action

1 Sentance Plot: Pro wrestler, Rip does battle with an evil TV executive, and his ex con monster, Zeus.

My Thoughts: People may think it's silly, but it has my Idol, HULK F'N HOGAN! Plus, it's about wrestling so that's all I need to say.

Recommend to: Specifically hardcore Hulkamaniacs, and other such wrestling fans.

Go (R) 1999 Adventure/Comedy

1 Sentance Plot: Story of how one crazy night links various people together.

My Thoughts: It's a cool film that shows the perspective of one character and their whole night, then goes to another, so things are revealed throughout the film you didn't get earlier. It appeals to a younger audiance, and older people might not find much interest.

Recommend to: Younger more "with it" crowds.

Beyond The Mat (R) 1999 Documentuary

1 Sentance Plot: A behind the scenes look at the world of pro wrestling.

My Thoughts: As a wrestling fan, of course I loved it. It's an intelligent, non-degrading look at the industry and it's stars. I can honestly say you don't have to like wrestling to enjoy this movie.

Recommend to: Required viewing for all erestling fans but everyone will enjoy this.

Hitman Hart: Wrestling With Shadows (R) 1998 Documentuary

1 Sentance Plot: The shocking true story of pro wrestler Bret "Hitman" Hart.

My Thoughts: Seeing how Bret is a hero of mine, and this is about wrestling, I loved this film. Since it was supposed to be a plain bio pic on Bret, and turned in to one of the biggest wrestling stories of all time, it's very interesting to anyone. Due to the complexity of the situation, I recommend to go out and see this for yourself, and I guarantee you will end up liking this film.

Recommend to: More required viewing for wrestling fans, but also to anyone who likes fascinating true stories.

The Matrix (R) 1999 Sci Fi/Action

1 Sentance Plot: A hacker's odyssey through the futuristic world.

My Thoughts: It's a cool innovative film, that has since been replicated in pretty much every action movie that has come out since it's release. The story is very complex, so you can watch it many times, and still pick up more and more. Not being much a scifi movie fan, I was skeptical on how much i'd like it, but due the the intelligent plot, and unorthodox style, it set itself apart from your run of the mill Star Wars sterotyped science fiction story.

Recommend to: Action movie buffs, and anyone looking for something different.

Midnight Express (R) 1978 Drama

1 Sentance Plot: The story of a young American man in a brutal Turkish prison.

My Thoughts: This a quite a powerful, and shockingly barbaric true story of Billy Hayes, an American caught smuggling hash in Turkey, then sentanced to a stay in one of their infamous prisons. The graphic depictions of what took place take on a whole new meaning when you stop to realize it all actually happened. It is a fantastic film, but is quite a buzzkill, so I wouldn't just pop it in, it's the type of film you want to prepare yourself for what you see.

Recommend to: Anyone who likes a powerful movie.

The Green Mile (R) 1999 Drama

1 Sentance Plot: A supernatural death row inmate touches the lives of those around him.

My Thoughts: The Green Mile is an emotional masterpiece that touches all who watch it. This is another movie you'd want to sit down, and really get into, because not only is it over 3 hours, but is a gripping tale that will leave you feeling spent, so I'd suggest you make time to sit down to watch it, and truly enjoy it. Also, you may want to keep a box of Kleenex nearby, you'll need it.

Recommend to: Everyone

Pulp Fiction (R) 1994- The genre is quite hard to explain

1 Sentance Plot: Four connected stories of a boxer, mob hitmen, and a pair or bandits.

My Thoughts: This is quite the film, as you saw above it's difficult to put this into any sort of genre. Director Quentin Tarantino delivers a very unique film here, it can at times be funny, violent, and outright bizzare.

Recommend to: Those looking for variety in their movie diet, or fans of Tarantino's other works.

Heat (R) 1995 Crime/Drama

1 Sentance Plot: Tale of a criminal and the cop out to get him.

My Thoughts: It's not the cookie cutter cop drama the 1 sentance plot makes it out to be. The characters are well written, and interesting, plus my favorite actor, Al Pacino is in top form here. Also, this movie stars another film legend, Robert DeNiro, who despite being in the same movie before with Pacino, never shared the screen with him until now.

Recommend to: Pacino/DeNiro fans, people who like a good crime/drama.

Dawn of the Dead (Not Rated) 1978 Horror

1 Sentance Plot: Four people trapped in a mall fight against zombies.

My Thoughts: I'm sure your laughing at the sillyness of the 1 sentance plot, but I assure you this is no ordinary zombie flick. Dawn of the Dead isn't just about flesh eating zombies, but is also a pretty accurate look at how people would react in such a dire situation. What I mean is when you take a variety of people and have them holed up in close quarters, there is still gonna be conflict, and even some funny moments, despite the fact that nearby the living dead are wating to eat you.

Recommend to: Horror fans and people who like good satire.

Wayne's World (PG-13) 1992 Comedy

1 Sentance Plot: Stars of a cable access show, Wayne and Garth sell their show to a shady tv producer.

My Thoughts: The characters of Wayne and Garth are directly from Saturday Night Live, and unlike most other SNL character films, this was actually funny, and a hit. Wayne's World is hysterical, but their lingo and brand of humor may not make sense to most outside the teen to twenty something demographic, so be advised if your some rickety old man trying to watch this, you might be very confused.

Recommend to: Those in the their Teens to their 20's

Back To The Future (PG) 1985 Fantasy/Adventure/Comedy

1 Sentance Plot: Teenager Marty McFly goes back in time, and is trapped in the 1950's with his teenage parents.

My Thoughts: I am a big fan of time travel movies, but this one set the standards. Most of what you see today in the genre is spawned from this film. Some influential movies lose their charm over time because everyone since ripped them off, but Back to the Future dosen't suffer that fate at all, as it still holds up, and proves that nothing beats the original.

Recommend to: Everyone, this film has mass appeal.

Platoon (R) 1986 War/Drama

1 Sentance Plot: A young man experiences the horrors of the Vietnam war first hand.

My Thoughts: Platoon may very well be the best War movie ever made. It's gripping, and by all accounts, accurate. You actually get some sense of what it was like, and it gives you an inside look as to what took place.

Recommend to: War movie buffs, and anyone interested in the period.

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (PG) 1989 Adventure/Comedy

1 Sentance Plot: Clueless rockers Bill and Ted travel through time.

My Thoughts: Yes, it is another time travel movie, but is also very funny. I can't get enough of Bill and Ted, even today I still quote the movie, and enjoy what I consider the greatest film duo ever.

Recommend to: Everyone

Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey (PG) 1991 Adventure/Comedy

1 Sentance Plot: Bill and Ted return, this time to stop a futuristic dictator set on revising history.

My Thoughts: As much as I love the first, I love this one even more, and that's saying something. Bill and Ted are great as usual but the character of Death (yes, the Grim Reaper himself) is brilliant, who knew he was so funny?

Recommend to: Everyone

The Breakfast Club (R) 1985 Comedy/Teen/Drama

1 Sentance Plot: A group of teens spen a saturday in detention.

My Thoughts: Another one of my favorite types of movies is 80's teen flicks, campy, sappy, or just plain stupid, I love them all. This is one of the best ones.

Recommend to: Teen movie fans

The Big Lebowski (R) 1998 Comedy/Mystery

1 Sentance Plot: Mistaken identity leads L.A. hippie Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski into a web of crime, and lies.

My Thoughts: From the creators of the hit film Fargo, the Big Lebowski is a quirky, smart, and funny piece of cinema. Jeff Bridges portrayal of "The Dude" is fantastic, but the real scene stealer is John Goodman as the hilarious Walter Sobchak, a rancorous Vietnam veteran. When Walter is on screen, you just KNOW he's gonna bring the funny.

Recommend to: Fans of offbeat humor and the like.

The Killer (R) 1989 Action/Drama/Crime

1 Sentance Plot: A disenchanted hitman takes one final job, in order to make the money necessary to restore the vision of a singer he accidentally blinded, and fell in love with.

My Thoughts: This is the way action films could only dream of being. Writer/Director Jon Woo masterfully combines violence and emotion into one amazing movie. I've always wanted to someone make a film which combined emotion and action like this one does, as I feel the two genres compliment each other very well, and finally somebody did, and did it right. This is not a product of the Hollywood sterotypical "blow'em up" system, but from Hong Kong, which means it's subtitled, but don't let that deter you. After seeing such a revolutionary action movie, you'll never look at the genre the same again, and believe me, that's a good thing.

Recommend to: With the violent aspect, I wouldn't show it to the youngsters, but this is so good, I want everyone else to see it.

Nightmare on Elm Street Part 3: Dream Warriors (R) 1987 Horror

1 Sentance Plot: The legendary slasher, Freddy Krueger returns, and finds himself against a group of teens in a psychiatric ward, all of whom he has terrorized, but also his old rival Nancy!

My Thoughts: I gave my thoughts on this when it was listed as one of my favorite horror films, but now, I'm gonna give you the reason why it's on my all-time favorite movies list. Well, I am a HUGE horror movie fan, I adore the genre, and the "Nightmare" series is my favorite series of that genre, so I picked what I felt is the best of the series to represent them all on this list. As far as the movie itself goes, dude, NANCY is back! For any fan of the Elm Street films, that's reason enough to see it.

Recommend to: Let me say something first, I have never been scared by horror films, in fact, I LOVED them even at a young age, an age where most wouldn't consider showing a kid that sort of movie. The point is, in my experiance, kids seem to enjoy Freddy's antics, and don't get too scared, but just to cover my own ass, let's recommend only to anyone of legal age to see an R-rated movie, specifically horror fans, and those wanting a fun film to watch with friends.

Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan (R) 1989 Horror

1 Sentance Plot: The hockey masked horror icon, Jason, is back, this time, on a boat loaded with teens, and head for New York City.

My Thoughts: I also covered this on my favorite horror movies list, and justify it on this list the same as "Dream Warriors" above. This might seem lame to some horror "purists" but hey, that's the reason I like it.

Recommend to: Also like "Dream Warriors", recommended to those of legal age, specifically horror fans, and those looking for a fun movie to watch with friends.

Freddy vs Jason (R) 2003 Horror

1 Sentance Plot: Finally, the two kings of horror Freddy Krueger & Jason square off in an epic battle!

My Thoughts: I covered this as well on the horror films list, but it deserves to be here as well. It rocks, plain and simple. After all the speculation and hype, it actually delivered. The people behind the film knew how huge this was, and put forth the effort to make sure it didn't disappoint. I applaud those people, as you can tell that they cared about the legacies they were, for all intents and purposes, gambling with. If the rumored sequel to this movie match of the century comes through, I'll be there the day it opens, like I was for this one.

Recommend to: Any self respecting horror fan should see it.

Kill Bill: Volume 1 (R) 2003 Action/Crime/Martial-Arts

1 Sentance Plot: A female assassin, known as "The Bride", wakes up from a four year coma,  and seeks revenge on those who double-crossed her, and left her for dead on her wedding day.

My Thoughts: I was pumped for this film, the latest from the man, Quentin Tarantino, who also made the classic, (just look earlier on the list) Pulp Fiction. This was one of those rare movies that made me rush to see it on opening day, and holy crap, was I ever in for a treat. Right after seeing it, I knew that it would make this list, I enjoyed it that much. Tarantino rocks so much that if he decided to do a film on the history of feces, and used the trippy music and style he does in this, or any of his other works, I'd go see that as well.   Basically, when it comes to Kill Bill, or any of his other films, some people might not "get it", but those who do will just love it.

Recommend to: Definitely Tarantino fans, and fans of old school Martial-Arts or "Revenge" movies. Just as a warning though, this movie is extraordinarily violent, so viewer beware.
